Bachelor and Master Programs
The Institute for Health and Nursing Science (IGPW) offers a Bachelor in Health Sciences and a Master Degree in Health Professions Education.
The multidisciplinary Bachelor in Health Sciences is open to nurses, therapists and other trained health care practitioners. It is, together with programs in medicine and dentistry, one of only three bachelor programs at the Charité Berlin. The program combines contents from the sciences, social sciences and humanities and provides a general foundation as well as specific professional qualifications for employment in a variety of management positions in the health sector. The degree program is managed by the IGPW and implemented in collaboration with other institutes and centers at the Charité Berlin.
The Master in Health Professions Education has replaced the original Diploma in Medical and Nursing Education and qualifies for teaching in health education, vocational training and continuing education in the health and nursing sciences. The program is implemented in close collaboration with faculty from the Department of Education at Humboldt University of Berlin.
In planning is a Bachelor in Nursing. This new bachelor program, which is expected to start in the winter semester of 2019/20, is being developed by the Institute for Health and Nursing Science. The program will be oriented at international models.
In addition, reviving the Institute’s former, tuition-financed Master Program in Nursing Sciences is currently under review. Any new developments regarding this program will be posted on this Website.
All academic programs at the Charité Berlin are accredited. New degree programs receive concept accreditation, followed by reaccreditation. Accreditation is renewed in regular intervals. Our Bachelor in Health Sciences and Master in Health Professions Education currently have received accreditation until 2019.
