Visit of Nancy English Ph.D., APRN, CS, CHPN, Assistant Professor

On June 3, 2019, a team of the Institute of Health and Nursing Science (IGPW) and colleagues from the Vice Dean for Teaching jointly welcomed Nancy English from the University of Colorado, USA, an expert in palliative care and undergraduate nursing education. First, Prof. Dr. Michael Ewers presented the focus of work of the IGPW and the preparations for the establishment of the primary qualifying Bachelor’s program in nursing at the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Afterwards, Nancy English shared her experiences in the implementation of palliativecare in training and further education of nurses as well as in practice development according to advanced nursing practice, also within the context of research projects. A further topic of the meeting was the mentoring of students during their practical phases by mentors (clinical instructors) as well as a case-related perspective on palliative care. Another meeting is planned for September 2020.
