This qualitative research project is intended as a doctoral thesis entitled "Influence of social inequality in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic on adolescent mental health in Colombia" and is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). It aims to investigate the impact of social inequality on adolescents' mental health in socially disadvantaged neighbourhoods in Bogotá D.C. - Colombia. In particular, the project addresses the question of how the health emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic may have exacerbated pre-existing social inequalities in Colombia and how these affect the mental health of adolescents growing up in such environments. In this way, information will be gained on how to deal with social inequalities and how they are exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which poses a challenge not only in Colombia but worldwide in the short, medium and long term.
